Daily Oral Language (DOL) Book 1: Aligned to the 4th Grade CCSS This booklet is the first 8 weeks of daily sentence correction aligned to the 4th grade CCSS! Each day has 3 sentences to correct. Ms. Pugh's 3rd Grade Class: Photo Gallery Daily Oral Language. Each morning, students will copy and correct 2 sentences from the board. Students will need to correct capitalization, punctuation, and grammar. We will review the corrections to the sentences together at the end of morning work time.
Oral language development in context rather than a series of isolated vocabulary, grammar and phonological awareness drills, was thought to produce more robust oral language development. The teachers created fifteen themed play boxes with sets of levelled questions for teachers/adults to use to stimulate children’s oral language. Kids who hear more words spoken at home learn more words and enter school with better vocabularies. This larger vocabulary pays off exponentially as a child progresses through school.
